HALLOWEEN ! ! !

Dylan's second Halloween was a blast and I have to say he is much better this year the day after then he was last. I had the original idea to make him into a panda bear, but Josh thought that it would be so hard to get his make-up on and for him not to play with it. So we decided to make him a zombie, and I have to say he was the most adorable zombie I had ever seen. He loved going to the family, he took LOTS of treats and liked the idea of putting it in his pumpkin, after he realized that he still got to eat it. After we were done trick-or-treating we drove past the Halloween lights just a little ways away from our house, for our last look of the season. I took Dylan there almost EVERY night if he was good. It was a blast!
Here are some pictures of us carving pumpkins, Dylan would only eat the seeds. And of course his costume.

Dylan

My friend Brooke took these pictures of Dylan the other week and this isn't all of them but they are so cute so I had to post them. I can't believe how big he is getting.

Dylan loves the dirt!

Dylan loves to play outside in the dirt. And I always keep the door open so he can run in and out freely. Well the other day he came in and I wasn't sure if it was him or not but after we took pictures and got the face washed off there was that precious smile.

Happy 1st Birthday Dylan!

So this is about a month late, but we've been so busy, so here it is. Dylan had a great first birthday and he was so good. The day started with a parade, then to the park for the booths, and then a great nap. Which let Mom and Dad catch up on stuff the party. Then we had a great cookout, hotdogs, and salad. Then Presents! Dylan loved to open his tonka truck, given by Uncle Caleb and Uncle Wes. Thanks guys he loves it! And he also was spoiled by both Grandparents. Josh and I gave him a pool, and a hoop to go in it. Aunt RoseAnne gave him the best building blocks ever! He love his birthday. So what was left but the cake of course. It had a four wheeler on it, he loves to play with. We gave him a piece and he did not eat a single crumb of it. Nothing went in his mouth. He started with the frosting, and it was all over his hands then straight to his hair. Not only did he continue to rub it in then he rubbed it all over his chest. Silly boy! Dylan I love you and you are such a great boy. I hope you had a great birthday!

Dylan's First Haircut

Dylan was such a brave little boy. He didn't cry or anything. Josh sat with him and the clippers letting him study them, and then it was in his high chair with his cape on and it was cutting time. He just kept trying to look at Josh while he was cutting his hair, so I gave him a sucker, his very first sucker! It was almost gone by the time we were done. He looks so big a grown up now, he's adorable.

He Can WALK ! !

I haven't blogged for a while so make sure that you check all of my new entries. I had a few spare minutes since I've been home all day on pain killers, I had my wisdom teeth pulled. But here it is the moment that I've been waiting for. . . . . DYLAN CAN WALK! He took his first step at 10 months and 2 weeks old. I think that is a very big accomplishment. And boy if he wants to cruise he will. He still crawls on and off, hasn't gone to straight walking yet. This video is outside on the very uneven grass and he has his new favorite ball. With of course puppies on it. What else could a little boy ask for? He does so good, I am so very proud of him!

Camping ! !

Yes we braved the weather and went camping last weekend. The first part was lovely. We went for a walk got everything set up, and then the rain started to pour! Luckily Josh had talked me into bringing our canopy. We had Dylan under it, and that's where we ate as well. Dylan's first dutch oven tatoes and BBQ chicken, he loved it! We finally decided to go in the tent where we knew would be dry and Dylan ready for bed and of course then the rain stopped. So we went out and built our fire, and rocked Dylan to sleep. He slept all night, I was so proud of him. It rained on and off all night, so the next morning we made breakfast and packed up and came home. Hopefully next time it won't rain, and if it does hopefully it's just for a few minutes.

Just Helping Mom!

Dylan loves to get into the dishwasher. It doesn't matter if it's clean or dirty. He get in and pulls everything out or sometimes will even put stuff in. He's Mommys little helper, for sure!

Outside. . . . if it would stay nice enough

Dylan loves outside. I didn't think a boy his age could like the outside so much. If he's ornery take him outside, fussy take him outside. I tell you he loves it. I sure hope this is a sign that he will love camping. I put him in the walker because Josh and I were doing little odds and ends around and couldn't carry him and he kept sticking everything in his mouth. So the walker solved that problem, plus gave him a spot for his vanilla wafers, thanks Molly for letting us use it. He is sporting his handsome camo hat from his Aunt RoseAnne.

BATMAN!

We had to get Dylan some new jammies because he grew out of his footed ones and couldn't even straighten his little legs. So we went to Wally World, and couldn't find any warm jammies so we got him an assortment of summer ones, and of course we had to get the Batman jammies. After all it came with a cape. . . . so really there was not an option it was a must.

Bye-Bye

This is Dylan's newest accomplishment, besides climbing up the stairs. It is so adorable! I believe that he even understands what it means because if we are going and I ask him if he's ready if he is then he starts waving to everyone as we walk out. And yesterday when I was driving home I waved to a passerby and I look back at him and his little arm is stretched as far as it will go up and he's just a waving his little hand. He is so precious! At daycare when people go they always say bye and he turns and waves like they were specifically talking to him. It makes me a proud Mom to see him learn stuff so quickly. I think Josh and I have a very smart boy on our hands.

Dylan's New Seat

This is Dylan's new car seat. He out grew the one he had since birth quicker then I thought he would, but it lasted him long enough. He loves his new seat though, it's comfy and it has a cheerio holder, because we all know how important that is. It's really a cup holder but he hasn't mastered the cup yet so we use it for snacks.

Yaaay!

I finally got Dylan to clap his hands for the camera. It's my new favorite thing he does. He gets so proud of himself when he does it, it's adorable.

NINE MONTHS!

WOW! It's so hard for me to believe that I had Dylan nine months ago. In the last little bit he has accomplished TONZ! He now can clap his hands, he jabbers like nobodies business, and he is getting very close to walking. He actually took a step last week without holding on to anything. He lunged forward and grabbed my pant leg and stood there so big. He now has got three teeth and another one coming threw any day. He has mastered the art of crawling, and pulling himself up on everything and then two days ago when I was bathing him he taught himself about the difference in the hot and cold water, and how when you mix them it's better. He would pull himself up to look at himself in the reflection of the tub spout. And he saw something really shiny and had to reach for it. Of course it was the hot water, so he got on his tippy toes and reached for it then turned it on and the water started coming out. At first it scared him and he fell down on his bum, and just stared at the water flowing into the tub. So I shut it off told him no and to sit on his bum. Well a minute later he was back up and he had the cold knob this time. He turned it on and the water came out then he shut it off and went for the hot one again. So eventually he was standing up like a pro with a knob in each hand turning them on together, then one and the other. I sat him back down cuz at this time I was just giggling at him then he thought it was funny. He stood back up grabbing the spout this time, and pulling up the thing that turns the shower on. With a hand on it and the other on the knob he turned that thing and knew just what it would do. But as you know with that thing pulled up it didn't come out the spout, it came out right on top of his head! He sat down and just kept looking up at the water like what are you doing that's not how this is supposed to work. Then he looked at me and I was laughing by this point, and he started to cry. It was so funny! I shut off the water and the shower. Hugged him and then he sat back down now that everything was under control and did it again, only this time he thought that it was funny no longer scary. I should have grabbed the camcorder but I didn't dare leave him and if I took him out he would throw a fit. So I'm just telling you all of this experience and I'm sure you can see it for yourself, in your mind.

Dylan's New Use For Wipes

Well as you can see, my son has mastered the art of kicking things to where he can't reach something he wants just so he can reach it. And I was sure he was going to crash, but he never did. He just stepped up and down like a pro.

Dylan and his puppy

Dylan LOVES the puppies at our house. Last night he just kept laying on Kujo trying to get comfy, because he didn't feel good, I would guess it was so cute Josh finally snapped a picture just in time. It was so cute.

FEVER ! !

Dylan is getting more teeth, finally, he has had the two he has got for almost two months with no more until now. But this weekend was the worse I have seen him get yet. On Monday we took him into the Doctor because four weeks ago we took him in because he wasn't feeling very good, and to our surprise he had a double ear infection. So we gave him his antibiotic and he got feeling better. Then a week after that we took him back in because he still wasn't up to par. The infection had gone away in his right ear but had stayed in his left. so the Dr. gave us a stronger dose of medicine and told us to use it all up (11 1/2 days) and come back in two weeks when he was done with his medicine and check his ears to make sure all the infection was gone. So last Monday we went back in and it's a good thing we did, Dylan got over his ear infection but now had croup. So no antibiotic this time just a steroid to help his lungs stay clear. He was on the steroid for three days. So Wednesday he was off medicine and doing okay, he still was really clingy and didn't like when he couldn't see me, so I just thought that it was a phase he was going through and thought nothing much more of it. Then Friday we were at Molly's and I went to get him from his nap, and he was really hot, Molly took his temperature while I held him and it was 101.2. While I held him Molly looked and saw that his two top teeth were starting to come in, so we hoped that that is what caused the fever. That night was horrible, he was up every two hours, just a crying and screaming, you would pick him up and he was right back asleep. You could tell he just hurt. Then on Saturday he was like that all day with a fever ranging from 102 to 101. And finally about midnight his fever broke. He slept the rest of the night and woke up about 9:00. I took his temperature this morning and it was 98 degrees. So much better then it was. He is still real clingy but the left tooth has finally poked a little corner through. So we are much happier tonight but he is still very tired.

Just Playing

This is Dylan playing with a new toy to help him walk, so far he just likes the buttons on it and will walk with it but while he's pushing the buttons not holding on to the handle like he is supposed to. But I guess buttons are more fun!

My LAZY Boys

This is a typical Sunday for me when I get home from church and Dylan is down for his nap. I guess they think well Dylan is sleeping so we can too.

Where Did He Learn This. . . . .

This is Dylan newest trick. He puts things in his mouth when he needs to use both of his hands for something else. Now maybe he just thought of this all on his own, BUT I think that the fact we have two dogs, that carry things around the same way, might have some influence on him.

Our First Walk Of The Year!

You say the word walk in my house and you get Kujo jumping around like a crazy dog whining and barking, I'm not joking, when I was pregnant with Dylan we went on TONZ of walks, and I would just say that I had been on one and he would be jumping around ready to go for another one. So with the weather being so nice yesterday I could not resist a walk to the end of my road, we went to the road that turns into Cove Road. So it was only 20 minutes and by the halfway point Zeus was tired of walking. So when he was little and Dylan was in his carseat I would just set Zeus on top of the blanket and he would ride there, pretty much the whole time that we walked (he's got little legs) So when he tired out on this one I didn't know where to put him. It was Dylan's first ride in the stroller sitting up like a big boy. So I set Zeus on Dylan's lap. And there he rode all the way home. With Cherrio's in one hand and Zeus under the other arm Dylan was set to head home. It was so adorable I had to get a few pictures when I got home, Zeus had moved but it is still just as cute. Dylan's little cheeks are red but when I got him in the house he was really warm bundled up like an eskimo.

My Little Man

As I am sitting here at work, watching Dylan and the other kids interact, I realize that he acts pretty old for his age. We are having snack and it's Goldfish, Dylan's new favorite snack by the way, and Ryker (cousin) is sharing with him so cute. Dylan is sitting on his mat like a good boy and Ryker on his. Well Dylan ran out of Goldfish because I only gave him three, and cousin Ryker still has a whole hand full. So Ryker sets them down and pushes them over one at a time to Dylan and he grabs it and stuffs it into his mouth. Ryker thinks that it is pretty funny and all of the kids are just watching them and giggling. He acts so big at snack time, and thanks Ryker for sharing your fishes.

Update for Sister Molly

Well hello there my long lost sister. I just thought that I would let you know why you were basking in the sunlight, getting that perfect tan, I was here. And not only was I wishing that I was with you, but realizing that it is just not fair. I had to deal with the snow and rain, cold freezing tempuratures and on top of that try to put my house back together, with a seven month old that keeps falling down, and then crying. But anyway enough about my suffering how was it? Hope to talk to you soon and see some pictures. Love you guys lots!

I Didn't Do It . . . I Promise!

Not only has Dylan been getting cords and books on his adventures. Crawling into his bouncer and on the lower level of the coffee tables wasn't enough for him. Saturday he found the kitchen and what was in the kitchen but Kujo, Zeus, and Morgan's food bowls. Not only did he start out in the living room checking everything out on his way to get his Daddy that was in the kitchen, but he found the treasure that I hoped he would never find.

Dylan and the Scooby Shirt

Now I have talked about Dylan having to wear this Scooby shirt on Christmas already. And when Josh and I got back from Lava on Saturday he was in it yet again. Dylan and Grandma Gilbert were having a night bottle and he started coughing and then he started puking it all up. He drenched himself so Grandma changed him into his favorite back up jammies, and he was fast asleep on Grandma's lap when we got there to take him home it was so precious to see him laying there with her. THANKS MOM!

Reading Time!

Dylan LOVES to read! We can thank Grandma Gilbert for that she loves to read to him, just as he loves to hear her read. But he was reading with Josh and he was trying to turn the pages of his books, and most of the time he would accomplish it. It was adorable watching Josh read to him and he was so excited to turn the pages, Josh would tell him when to do it, if he hadn't done it by then already.

Shopping

On Saturday we went shopping at Wal*Mart and Patty (Josh's Mom) was there. We actually got to say hello this time. She came up to kiss Dylan and Dylan was so excited to see her. He was just a kicking his little legs, and then flirting with her it was really cute. We also had him sitting up in the cart like a big boy he loved it he could see everything, especially Grandma. He was a little distraught when she went back to her till though because he could see her and didn't understand why she had left I think but so he just was looking at her and talking to her the whole time it was adorable.

The Tub Is Out Of Commission

Well since we now can't use our tub because it is being used to hold tools and unused Sheetrock Dylan gets the pleasure of bathing in the sink. I tried doing this when he was first born, because my Mother told me how wonderful it was. Well don't tell my Mom but I thought she was a complete LIAR! But now I understand. It helps if they can sit up, this I didn't understand until now. He loves the sink! The only bad thing is he tries to pull himself up on the divider of the sinks, the faucet and the handle. But the good thing, the dishes stay done because if they are in the sink Dylan is throwing them on the floor, or trying to get to them, and I have even caught him trying to eat some of the leftovers on them. Yeah not so good, but it will work for now.

Dad's little Army Crawler

WOW! I just have to tell everyone how quick Dylan has gotten. He used to just worm, well now he can army crawl (he pulls himself with his arms mostly) and pulling up on to anything he can get to. Oh and how he loves the cords, and books. Josh and I are very impressed at the speed he can crawl, for not really technically crawling that kid can move! Here are some pictures of him underneath his bouncer chair. He really like to be under there as well as eating the lamp cords.

Leaky Leaky Pipes.

Oh old houses don't you just love them . . . . . . . Josh and I have discovered a leak in our pipes that goes to our tub downstairs, so we tore off the tub surround and can I just say yuck! It was all moldy and wet, so we tore everything out. My brother Kris came down to help us with the wiring, he is so very good at stuff like that he can explain anything to me and it even makes sense so you know he's that good. But he and Josh had fun learning all of the 'wonderful' things that the previous owners did. Such as there's three walls where there should only be one, and there is a door from my tub to my living room, there's a old window that's next to the tolite that goes to the closet in the hall, and my favorite thing is that we don't have fluffy instulation, that's too normal, we have dirt, hard, packed, black dirt inbetween our studs that go to the outside. Now I guess this is understandable after all that part of the house was built in 1910 so that I'll forgive. In the pictures you can see the plaster boards that cover the whole room, the three types of wall paper. We are working on it and when it's done we'll have those pic on here too.

Dylan's Teeth

Don't mind the bib and the messy face it's the only time I can get Dylan to show me his teeth. Aren't they SO handsome. Sorry for the blurry picture.

Dylan in the Kitchen

As you all know we borrowed a walker from Molly, well until yesterday I don't really think Dylan knew what it would do. I (being the crazy Mother that I am) ran him around the house in it. He was just a screaming and laughing and his little legs going a mile a minute. It was the cutest thing to see how excited he can get. So after a few laps around my house he thought he knew how to work it and started to run threw the house as fast as his little legs would go. The only problem is my oven stick out farther then my cupbords and he would smack into it and get stuck. Well I'll let you know that he would let me know when he was stuck, he would starts complaining as only Dylan does, with a wimper and a small whine. He had even learned how to turn around in it so he was cruising pretty good.

Dylan's Toothies

Dylan has finally got his first tooth, and I wish that it would go away. He was ornery but I figured it was his 6 month shots so was I surprised when he stuck my fingers in his mouth and bit me. So the first one it wasn't too bad, but this second one that finally broke through yesterday was horrible. He wouldn't let me leave his sight. When I set him on the floor he would worm over to me and try to stand up, pulling my pants down in the process. But they are finally threw! So only like twenty more to go right!?! I can't get a picture yet anytime I try to he clenches his mouth shut and starts to pout. But he does love to chew on Graham Crackers, they seem to help the pain. So we've got crackers and Tylenol on hand for now.

Dylan and the Fishes

Dylan loves to watch the fishes in my fish tank. I had to go buy some fish that were colorful because all I had in there was a kissing fish (pink) and a placostamous (black, brown, gray) So I went and bought two fancy goldfishes that are very colorful. Dylan loves to watch them when they swim around and he tries to catch them as you can see in this video. He can sit there for quite a long time just watching them and talking with them. It's pretty cute if I can say so myself.

Dylan Trying To Walk

With Dylan thinking that he needs to walk I went and borrowed a walker from sister Molly. Dylan LOVES it ! ! ! Here is a short video of him trying to run down the dogs. He can cruise around pretty good. It surprised me how well he was walking in it I thought he might have to learn how but we put him in and he was walking as fast as he could, and grining the whole time. He loves to get over to the coffee table and pull everything he can off of it and in his mouth.

He Can Stand By Himself

On Tuesday Dylan finally pulled himself up on his brand new cruise and crawl. So now he thinks that he is ready to walk. He gets very mad at just sitting or laying down. If he is not standing up he gets mad and lets you know that it is not acceptable. So now that he can finally pull himself up he tries to on everything, even though some of the things he tries to pull himself up on aren't very stable. He pulled himself up on a box of toys I have for him and his little arms were not allowing him to completely stand up and his head went right into his toy box and he started screaming, although it was pretty funny to watch.
